All IP Applications must be submitted to the Syria Industrial and Commercial Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection.

Trademark

  • Time frame to complete the process is 9 to 12 months.
  • Registered trademarks in Syria are valid for 10 years from the filing date.
  • The renewal application must be filed within the last year of the validity period.
  • A grace period of 6 months is allowed for filing a renewal.

Copyright

  • Time frame to complete the process 4 to 6 months.
  • Registered copyright is valid for 30 years from the death of the author.

Patent

  • Time frame to grant of a patent is not available.
  • Registered patent is valid for 20 years from the date of filing.
  • The annual fees must be paid on the first day of the year with grace period of 6 months.

Industrial Design

  • Time frame to complete the process is 3 to 4 months.
  • Registered Industrial Design is valid for 15 years from the filing date.
  • The first renewal will be due after 5 years from the filing date with a grace period of 6 months.
