All IP Applications must be submitted to the Oman Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI).

Trademark

  • Time frame to complete the process is 8 to 10 months.
  • Registered trademarks in Oman are valid for 10 years from the filing date.
  • A grace period of 6 months is allowed for filing a renewal application and subject for late penalty fees.

Copyright

  • Time frame to complete the process is 3 months.
  • Registered copyright is valid for 70 years from the death of the author.

Patent

  • Time frame to grant of a patent is 3 to 4 years from the filing date.
  • Registered patent is valid for 20 years from the date of filing.
  • The annual fees must be paid on the anniversary of the international filing date with 3 months surcharge grace period.

Industrial Design

  • Time frame to complete the process is 36 months.
  • Registered Industrial Design is valid for 10 years from the filing date.
  • The protection period can be renewed for two terms, five year each from the filing date.
