All IP Applications must be submitted to the Libya National Authority for Scientific Research
(NASR) Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Time frame to complete the process is 36 to 40 months.
Registered trademarks in Tunisia are valid for 10 years from the filing date.
The renewal application must be filed within 6 months before expiration date.
A grace period of 6 months is allowed for filing a renewal application with a late penalty fee.
Copyright
The Libyan Copyright Law No. 0 of 1968 is issued but no implementing regulation has been in force yet. Therefore, implementation of the law is not possible.
No registration procedure for Copyright.
Patent
Time frame to grant of a patent is 3 years.
Registered patent is valid for 15 years from the date of filing.
The annuities are due after grant retroactively.
Industrial Design
Time frame to complete the process is 3 to 5 months from the filing date.
Registered Industrial Design is valid for 15 years from the filing date.
The renewal must be applied within the fifth year from the filing date renewable for two terms of 5 years each.
A grace period of 3 months is allowed to file renewal application with late penalty fees.
