All IP Applications must be submitted to the Ministry of Economy and Trade – Department of Intellectual Property.

Trademark

  • Time frame to complete the process is 1 to 2 months.
  • Registered trademarks in Lebanon are valid for 15 years from the filing date.
  • The renewal application must be filed within the last year of the validity period.
  • A grace period of 3 months is allowed for filing a renewal application and subject for late penalty fees.

Copyright

  • Time frame to complete the process 2 to 3 months.
  • Registered copyright is valid for 50 years from the death of the author.

Patent

  • Time frame to grant of a patent is 2 to 3 months from the filing date.
  • Registered patent is valid for 20 years from the date of filing.
  • The annual fees must be paid on the first day of the year following the filing date with 6 months surcharge grace period.

Industrial Design

  • Time frame to complete the process is 2 to 3 months.
  • Registered Industrial Design is valid for 25 years from the filing date.
  • The protection period can be renewed for one term 25 years period.
